Choice

“Every day is a new opportunity and every day we face plenty of choices without realizing their long term consequences.”

Ever think about it? I do. Although I am by no means brilliant or successful. I don’t have an IQ as high as Albert Einstein, I am clearly not great in sports (although I run fast and used to jump 5m in long jump, a sort of humble brag) and I still have a lot to learn.

I have made mistakes in the past and I have no hesitation to admit I’ll continue to do so. That is the epitome of being human, isn’t it?

So, the choice. Why does choice matter? It matters because it has consequences. Each and every choice you make everyday will have an effect on your life whether major or minor.

Wake up early or sleep a bit more? Play video games or study? Drink coffee or orange juice? Read a book or watch a TV series?

These might seem small and guess what? They’re actually small things. These small things make a big difference though. Every single drop of water is necessary to make up an ocean. Similarly, every choice has an impact on your life.

Once this realization hit you, your point of view shifts and you see things in a new light. Let me address why our choices so vital. People often say they don’t have the motivation to study. They don’t have the motivation to do this, to do that etc. But here is the secret. It’s not about motivation. Motivation comes and goes. For success, one needs to be disciplined.

How do you discipline yourself? By making small adjustments, small things, and small habits etc. This is why I earlier said small things make a big difference. It is not about that surge of renewed energy we call motivation that makes you successful in the long run. It’s the discipline.

Make small changes. Build small but effective hobbies. See the change in your lifestyle when you make small changes and slowly shift your point of view. The miracles of small but effective habits will assist you in the long run.

Remember, you make plenty of choices every day and every choice has consequences. It’s up to you to decide for yourself and analyze the situation properly. Only then you will be able to reflect on your life more carefully.

You need to be happy before you plan your career

I have been pondering over the thought of having a career for a while now and after days of hard introspection I have come to a realization that a person needs to be happy and in a positive frame of mind before he or she can decide which career they really want to pursue.

It might sound very obvious but it isn’t as obvious as you’d like to believe. We often think about our likes and dislikes and think what we want to do  for  the rest of our  life but a lot of people  don’t realize that your career  doesn’t only mean a 9-5 job but  it is also something which  changes your life completely.

It demands you to take the fate of your life in your own hands and make adjustments in your lifestyle.

I have spent days, even years now, thinking about what I’d want to become but I am still quite far from the answer.  Although, I have noticed that, before even knowing what there is that needs to be done, I have to focus on how to be in a positive frame of mind so that I can think clearly about my life goals.

A career won’t only mean a well paying job but it will also lead to a positive life and you can’t live a positive life while having a negative frame of mind simultaneously.

So, today I have realized that I might be looking for the wrong things in life.  I am looking for my passion, my life goals and ambitions.

Maybe I need to plan how I am going to enjoy my life.  What gives me or you pure joy?  You’ll find what you want to become automatically if you start seeking peace, joy and pure happiness.

After all, we don’t live to work but work to live.

Fame and Fortune- Is it important?

You see great artists like Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley etc and wish that someday, someone will find you and acknowledge the talent you’ve got and give you a chance to perform at the biggest level to showcase the great skill you’ve acquired over the years. Frankly speaking, almost every teenager once in his/her life thinks about being popular one day and lead a luxurious life but not many are able to achieve their dream of being extraordinarily talented. To an extent, it depends if you’ve got natural talent or not. That is a big reason which differentiates prodigies from other people. It’s not wise to run after a luxurious life and think about being famous.

Although, many people (including me) find it difficult to resist this feeling but deep down, we all know what is actually important in life and that is, the love of the family and friends. Having few close friends and a family is all we hope to desire after being famous.

Obviously, people will provide you ample amount of attention and would like to be friends. Just like everything else, famous people have got their own troubles like they have to keep an eye on the people on whom they can actually trust because nearly everyone tries to ride on their fame. Some people equate popularity as being successful but in my opinion, success is not achieving something materialistic. According to my view, you’re successful if in the end, you’re satisfied by yourself and your work. Anyway, that’s just a point of view.

The fact is that many people just wish to become popular without actually trying to develop love for an art. Yes, the media has shown that it’s altogether a different world but in the end, the reality is that they are just human beings like us and it’s we who make them popular. Not denying the fact that they are at that position because of their hard work but we should start doing something productive with our lives and stop obsessing over celebrity lifestyle.

Fame and fortune

You might still think that it is important to be popular and rightly so but always remember to love yourself and set your priorities right even if you don’t achieve this particular dream. The best way to become popular is, I think, develop love for an art and do it for your own happiness. In that way, you’ll love yourself and it is a universal fact that it’s only when you love yourself, you’ll learn to love others.

Developing a skill will leave you satisfied and what’s better than being content in life? I don’t think there’s a bigger feeling than that.
