Should sports body be privatized?

Lots of expectations before the event began but unfortunately, lack of preparation and motivation meant another disappointment.  It has been several days since the Rio Olympics has finished. It was estimated that India will win at least 12 medals this time around but we only won two, only one silver medal and a bronze. Not even a single gold medal was there in the tally for a population of more than 1 billion.

Abhinav  Bindra, Olympic gold medalist  in Beijing Olympics 2008,  has stated  that government should  not run sports administration. The reason is simple and logical. Government officials lack proper knowledge about sports and there is always a possibility of corruption with the government.

We have seen with the BCCI how cricket has developed over the years and how profitable the sport has become especially in the Indian subcontinent.

Keeping that in mind, privatization of sports administration might be a good idea.
